Danbro In Line For Three Top Awards
Danbro, the specialist accountancy firm for contract and freelance workers, has set its sights on going one better in 2010 after making the final shortlist in three separate categories at this year’s prestigious Accountancy Age Awards.
When Danbro co-founders and directors Damian and Helen Broughton attended the ceremony in London on 18 November, they already knew they were in the running for the ‘Best Small Firm’ and ‘Best use of Internet: Practice’ titles for the second year running – then on the night, they found they had been nominated by their staff for the ‘Employer of the Year’ prize as well.
Despite eventually being pipped at the post Damian said he was pleased to have made the final shortlist in three categories and was particularly delighted by the surprise nomination from his own staff.
He said: “We were shortlisted along with Grant Thornton, Deloitte and Pricewaterhousecoopers, some of the biggest names in the accountancy world. We did not win but just to be shortlisted with these companies is a great accolade.
“The fact that the nomination came from our staff meant a great deal to us personally and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their hard work and commitment.
“Despite the recession, 2009 has been a great year for Danbro and we feel confident of more success in 2010 – including, hopefully, an Accountancy Age Awards win this time next year!”
Danbro continued its recent rapid expansion throughout 2009, taking on 11 new staff and opening an office in Manchester, to complement its existing locations in Blackpool and London. The company also received the ISO:9001 accreditation for its management systems and an Investors in People award in recognition of the training and development of its staff.
Now in their 40th year, the Accountancy Age Awards – organised by the magazine of the same name – are recognised as one of the main indicators of good practice in the UK accountancy industry.
