Childcare FAQs
- What if my childcare costs are more than the amounts allowable?
- Can I temporarily stop using the childcare voucher scheme?
- What do I do if I currently receive tax credits?
- Can my spouse also claim for the childcare vouchers?
1. What if my childcare costs are more than the amounts allowable?
If this is the case, we would pay over the voucher amount and you would be required to pay the childcare provider the difference.
2. Can I temporarily stop using the childcare voucher scheme?
Yes. You can ask to stop receiving childcare vouchers temporarily whilst remaining on our scheme – for example, if you do not need childcare vouchers during a school holiday, you simply need to notify us.
3. What do I do if I currently receive tax credits?
If you currently receive tax credits, you need to make HMRC aware that you are going to start using the childcare voucher scheme just in case it has an impact on your tax credit allowance.
4. Can my spouse also claim for the childcare vouchers?
Yes. The amounts you can claim are on a per parent basis. If your spouse does not use our umbrella they can still ask their employer about whether they operate a childcare voucher scheme.
